AN EVENING WALK IN A NATIVE PLANT GARDEN
The Bird, Bee, and Butterfly Garden at Woven Works Park on the Downtown Greenway,
Thursday, May 25th, 6:30 pm, Murrow Blvd.and E.Lindsay St.
How about an evening walk in the park? Woven Works Park to be specific. Let's do 6:30 pm. That should give us enough daylight to get good viewing of the wildflowers. This little gem is one of the four nodes on the Downtown Greenway in Greensboro. The wonderful sculptures there call to mind the rich textile history of this area.
In addition, the park contains a wonderful native plant garden, planted and maintained by the city and a corps of volunteers, including some from TGPAS. The chapter, incidentally, was instrumental in the establishment of the garden. But wait, there's more. A lovely stream, Muddy Creek, which is actually not muddy, runs through the garden and is planted with native shrubs.
Our stop-and-look walk will involve identifying the many native perennials and shrubs in the garden, a great way to become more familiar with native species.
So mark your calendars for this special walk. It will be a great way to wind down on a May Thursday.
