About Us:
T Gilbert Pearson Audubon is a chapter of the National Audubon Society serving Guilford, Randolph, and parts of Alamance and Caswell Counties in the Triad area of North Carolina.
Our Mission:
The mission of T. Gilbert Pearson Audubon is to foster appreciation, knowledge, and enjoyment of birds and nature, and to preserve our natural heritage at local and global levels.
"Audubon protects birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow."
Our Vision:
We inspire and support people and organizations in our local communities to value and appreciate nature and to protect and conserve habitats for wildlife.
Our Statement on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
The birds and other wildlife that T Gilbert Pearson Audubon Society pledges to protect differ in size, color, behavior, geographic preference, and countless other ways. Just as biodiversity strengthens ecosystems, the diversity of human experience strengthens our conservation efforts for the benefit of nature and all human beings. T. Gilbert Pearson Audubon must represent and reflect that human diversity, embracing it in all the communities where we work. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our board, volunteers, members, and supporters, to achieve our conservation goals, and to “bringing nature home” to all people and all communities. Respect, inclusion, and opportunity for people of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and perspectives will attract the best ideas and harness the greatest passion to shape a healthier, more vibrant future for all of us who share our planet.
Land Acknowledgment Statement
We acknowledge that the original stewards of the land and nature of this area were Native American tribes which spoke a Siouan language. Our service area covers Guilford, Randolph, and parts of Alamance and Caswell Counties. The original inhabitants of these areas were the Saura, Keyauwee, Saponi, Tutelo, Sissipahaw, Occaneechi, and Siouan Indians. We show our respect to those people and those who came after them and honor their labor as original caretakers of this land. As we strive to steward the rich habitat and wildlife of our area, we honor and celebrate the many people, past, present and future, who engaged with the land and to this day continue to do so. We invite you to join us in continuing their care for this land and its natural resources.
