Keeping Birds Safe from Cat Predation

Outdoor cats are a significant threat to native wildlife, including birds, small mammals, and reptiles. Every year outdoor cats kill more than 2 billion birds in the United States. Cat predation is the largest source of human-caused predation to birds.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • keep your cats indoors

  • use a catio, or escape proof outdoor enclosure

  • use a BirdsBeSafe collar

  • use a CatBib to prevent them from being able to stalk and pounce
