Know Your Nests with Curtis Smalling

In Curtis' own words: “This time of year we often come across remnants of nests from years past, often undiscovered when active. It is always a treat to see those nests full of snow or up close to our homes, unseen and unnoticed until winter reveals them. Knowing something about nests and the cues that birds give us about who built those structures can add to our enjoyment of birds in our world. In this talk we will discuss the basic functions of nests, how birds build and use nests, and how each species has their own approach to nesting, which can offer clues to who built those temporary homes.”
