Please join us Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 pm for our annual Waterfowl Field Trip at several Greensboro area lakes.
We will check observation points at Lake Brandt, Lake Townsend, and several ponds north of Greensboro in search of waterfowl as well as other winter birds. This will be a joint activity with the Piedmont Bird Club.
We will NOT CARPOOL this year due to Covid concerns. We will caravan to each lake.
Meet at 1:45 p.m. (for a 2:00 pm departure) in the parking lot in front of the Whole Foods Market in Friendly Shopping Center facing Friendly Avenue between BB&T/Truist and Chick-fil-A in Greensboro. We will return to the parking lot around 4:30.
This will be a ride-and-stop trip between observation points where we will scan the water and nearby vegetation, then move on to the next site. Those with waterfowl field guides, binoculars, and spotting scopes should bring them. Dress for the weather and consider bringing a warm beverage.
Special considerations: Because of the coronavirus, we will NOT make an effort to pause at public restrooms. Participants may feel free to leave the field trip early as necessary.
In the event of dangerous weather or a forecast of rain all afternoon, the trip will be cancelled.
