Greensboro Lakes Tour for Waterfowl

This is a joint trip with Piedmont Bird Club. Participants will carpool between observation points at Lakes Higgins, Brandt, and Townsend plus ponds north of Greensboro to spot migratory and overwintering waterfowl, as well as other winter resident birds. We will drive to various overlooks, get out and scan the water, and then drive to the next stop.

Location: Meet in the parking lot in front of the Whole Foods Market in Friendly Shopping Center between Truist and Chick-fil-A. Be prepared to carpool either as a driver or passenger.

Time: Meet at 9:30 a.m.       Duration: About 3 hours

Habitat: lakes and ponds, wooded edges

Difficulty Rating: 1; mostly slow driving mixed with short walks; areas can be wet, shoes with traction advisable.

Provisions needed: Water, drinks, lunch/snacks

Cancellation: Cancels in the event of dangerous weather such as icy roads or if the forecast is for rain all morning. Contact the Trip Coordinator.

Special Note:  Where we stop there will be no bathroom facilities, however we may pass by facilities with them as we change locations.
