Coastal Birding Trip – we will visit several locations located around Nags Head such as Pea Island NWR, Jennette’s Pier ($2.00 per adult to enter), Bodie Island Lighthouse, and others as time allows. We will meet in the hotel parking lot or lobby and head out Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM for a few hours and then again Monday morning after breakfast. We will finish up in the early afternoon on Monday. 

Some of the birds we will on the lookout for include waterfowl such as: Snow Geese, Tundra Swan, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, Canvasbacks, Redheads, Northern Shovelers, and Buffleheads. We will also be on the lookout for shorebirds like American Oystercatchers, Marbled Godwits, American Avocets, and various plovers.  Sightings of Common Eiders, Razorbills, and Common Murres could be possible at the pier.

Bring binoculars and/or scopes if you have them.

Hotel accommodations, transportation, and meals are on your own. The hotel does offer a free breakfast. Please email trip leader for information on hotel accommodations.

This trip will be cancelled in the event bad weather is predicted for our dates. Make sure to book a room that can be cancelled.
