Greensboro Lakes Tour for Winter Waterfowl

Join us for what has become an annual field trip to look for ducks, geese, and other water birds. Participants will carpool between observation points at Lakes Brandt and Townsend plus Buffalo Lake and ponds north of Greensboro to spot migratory and overwintering waterfowl, as well as other winter resident birds. There will be little walking. We will drive to various overlooks, get out and scan the water, and then drive to the next stop. This is a joint activity with Piedmont Bird Club.

Location: Meet in the parking lot in front of the Whole Foods Market in Friendly Shopping Center between Truist Bank and Chick-fil-A. Parking will be limited at some of the stops so be prepared to carpool either as a driver or passenger.

Time: Meet at 9:15 a.m. with departure at 9:30 a.m. Duration: About 3 hours

Provisions: If you have a scope, binoculars, and a waterfowl field guide, bring them. Participants will be getting in and out of their cars to scan the water so consider dressing in layers and wearing mud resistant footwear. Bring water to drink.

Cancellation: The trip will be cancelled in the event of dangerous weather such as icy roads or if the forecast is for rain all morning. If you have questions, contact the Trip Coordinator.
