Join us to explore Davis Lake and a small section of the Bicentennial Greenway, where we will search for some early Spring migrants, ephemeral flowers, and local fauna. We will scan the lake for shorebirds and ducks, and if lucky, may see an Osprey. Barred Owls can also sometimes be heard and/or seen in the area.
We will be walking along a paved walkway that is mostly flat. There is a shelter near the lake with a picnic table, where we can rest and scan the water for any birds. This area is accessed off Mendenhall Oaks Parkway, which intersects Wendover Ave. as well as Eastchester Dr. in High Point. The closest address for your GPS is 4160 Mendenhall Oaks Pkwy, High Point, 27265. Turn into the parking lot across from the Creative Snacks building and park across from the Ryan Scott Displays building.
We will meet at 1 p.m. and meander for an hour or two. Feel free to contact trip coordinator Sharon Daugherty with any questions at naturenotestgp@gmail.com Sadly, there are no restroom facilities available. And as always, our walks are free and open to all!
