November Program: Owls, Hunters of the Night

  • Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch 1420 Price Park Drive Greensboro, NC, 27410 United States (map)

We hope you will join us of our November Program, Owls: Hunters of the Night, with Liz Schmid and Jean Chamberlain of Owl’s Roost.

"Owls: Hunters of the Night" will focus on the natural history of the local owl species in our area as well as some insights into the rehabilitation of injured owls.  Liz and Jean will bring some live feathered ambassadors to assist with their program.

Owl’s Roost Wildlife Education is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting respect and appreciation for North Carolina’s wildlife through improved understanding of the natural history and habitat of native wildlife. The focus is to share information and knowledge and promote cooperation and professionalism among members.

Liz Schmid has been involved with wildlife education for over 20 years. She previously owned the Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop in High Point, NC until she retired in 2020.  Liz focuses on the education aspect of Owl's Roost and does not actively rehabilitate birds. She currently serves as President of Owl's Roost Board of Directors.

Jean Chamberlain has been rehabilitating raptors and songbirds for 30+ years. She is a member of the board and former president of the statewide wildlife rehabilitation organization WRNC. Jean helps create and review the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council's courses. She coordinates the Raptor Watch at Pilot Mountain each September. Jean currently serves as the Treasurer for Owl's Roost.

As with all our programs, it is free and open to all!
