Swifts Night Out
Please join us as we gather with Piedmont Bird Club on Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00 PM to watch the Chimney Swifts as they gather to roost for the night at Swann Middle School.
Hundreds of Chimney Swifts were observed this week preparing to roost at the same location we gathered at last year, Swann Middle School.
Swann Middle School is located at 811 Cypress St., Greensboro 27405. We will be viewing from the back of the school. The best way to enter this area is from the intersection of Yanceyville St. and E. Hendrix St. If you go to the address posted above, you will be at the front of the school and you will need to drive around the block to the back.
Meet us at the school parking lot about 7 PM and plan to stay until the birds have gone to roost. This usually takes about an hour after sundown. We have found this to be an activity of patience as the birds get organized, seem to change their minds, fly away, come back, etc. Don’t give up too soon.
