Sunday Afternoon Nature Walk

Before the pandemic hit the Pearson chapter held Sunday afternoon nature walks on a regular basis. Of course Covid shut that down. But we are ready to re-start that popular outdoor activity in September at the Piedmont Environmental Center (PEC).

The PEC, a High Point nature preserve, is on Penny Rd. in Jamestown and borders City Lake. It has a small nature museum and a wide range of walking trails, paved and natural surface. We think it is a good place for a Sunday afternoon walk.

Notice that in the header we call this outing a NATURE walk. We will stroll and stop to look at wildflowers, trees, clouds, butterflies, whatever in nature strikes our fancy, And we will listen, for birds, frogs, and insects. So we may not cover much distance but we will no doubt cover a lot of nature.

Here are the details:

Sunday, September 18th

Drive yourself to the PEC  (1220 Penny Rd., High Point NC 27265) and arrive at 2:00pm.

Or go to the Whole Foods parking lot in Friendly Center in Greensboro, right up along Friendly Ave., at 1:30pm. Some Audubon folks will be there to meet you and lead a carpool to the PEC.

Our walk should be over by about 4:00pm so we will be back in Greensboro by 4:30 or so.

Please plan to join us for this inaugural Sunday Afternoon Nature Walk of the fall season. Wear comfortable walking shoes; bring some water if it is hot; and by all means bring your binoculars.
